The bull exudes dynamism and strength and is deemed to be the symbol for a powerful upswing. When attacked, it defends itself by attacking its rival from below catching it with its horns and forcing it up.

The bear on the other hand strikes its prey down from above with its paw. Therefore it symbolises a downswing in the market.
